Of all the things that could go wrong on a trip, from lost luggage to late planes, none compare to leaving my two dogs behind.
As the Shiba breed is, Crunch (B&T) and Karma (Sesame) are bright and independent dogs, and when they see the suitcase come out and clothes get stacked they immediately know what comes next. The space between us gets smaller as they push for just a bit more affection (and treats) before we leave.
My solace though comes from the enjoyment they have while we are gone, sometimes to our local doggy daycare where they are known by name. And more recently spending time with their Grand-Pawrents whom they love.
But even more wonderful are the howls and kisses we get when we return from our trip. For those approximately 8 minutes after we walk in that door, everything is wonderful and everyone is great. After that, we’re back to the hired help that provides them food and snacks. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Awww, look at these big stary eyes! ❤ I can rely to that article and understand it completely! Having a dog myself, leaving it behind at home is the hardest thing! Pets are family. And while on a trip I often caught myself thinking abouth them and missing them instead of enjoying my trip…
