We flew from West Sussex to Bergen, Norway and spent time walking the city center and checking out the harbor views of Bryggen. Rain is pretty typical in Bergen so we knew what to expect when we landed. We only had the afternoon and evening in Bergen before we left early the next morning for our rental in Sogndal.

On the drive to Sogndal we made a few stops to several popular waterfalls on the way. Steinsdalsfossen to see one of the waterfalls you can walk behind and then headed to Voss for quick stop and trek down the hill to see Skjervfossen and it’s unique restrooms. There were even people brave enough to go for a dip in the water.

Next stop was over to the Bordalsgjelet Gorge to check out the cavern with a waterfall at the very end of its trail which we had to ourselves and finally, our last waterfall stop of the day was Tvindefossen. A huge waterfall close to road and quick path leading up to falls. These were just a few close ones we stopped at on our drive filled with amazing views.

The final activity of the day was at Fjordsauna in Aurland where we’d enjoy the calmness of the Aurlandsfjord floating in a sauna and then braved the cold waters with a quick jump into the fjord, with a water temperature of about 52°F. Some even braved jumping from the high platform into the water but I opted to stick close to the side for easy access to the ladder.
