Our vacation got off to a rough start soon after arriving in London. We were picked up by driver and headed to Wembley where we’d be spending 2 nights during our quick stopover. We had a few hours between getting picked up and when we could check into our VRBO that we thought we’d just get dropped off early and hang out at a cafe while we waited to get specific from our host about checking in.

Step 1: ✅

Time went by; no cafe to wait in, no update from the host and the rain started. Did you know it rains in London? Off, on, off again, sun, hard rain, then it starts again.

We stood outside looking like lost tourists on the corner of the street (which in all honesty, we were). After contacting VRBO for assistance, we finally got a hold of the host and were told first they never got the reservation and then that the apartment wasn’t ready due to previous renters but she could offer us a different apartment 30 mins away. Not convenient in any way.

Step 2: ❌

Frustrated, wet and annoyed, we declined, demanded a refund and walked to find the nearest hotel. Due to special events most places were booked full or extremely expensive so choices at this point very very limited but we luckily found a place with a room available to us for the evening.

We checked in, grabbed a bite to eat, made new hotel reservations for the following evening, and then crashed for the night, hoping tomorrow would bring a better day.
